In 1999, my mom became a Habitat for Humanity homeowner, and that moment changed the course of our lives. Having a stable home gave us more than just a roof over our heads, it gave us consistency and a foundation to grow from. Because of that home, I was able to attend the same school year after year, build lasting friendships, and experience the joy of childhood in one community. It’s where I learned how to ride my bike, do my homework at the kitchen table, and dream about my future.
That sense of stability shaped who I am today. I’m now an active member of the NAACP, involved in several organizations that focus on youth development and positive living, and proud to hold a master’s degree in Public Administration. The foundation Habitat provided not only gave my family a home but also gave me the confidence and security to build a meaningful life centered on service, growth, and community impact.
